Pirates sail past Keys

From Staff reports

— PARK HILL — Cameron McIntire hauled in nine passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns as Locust Grove knocked off Keys, 54-16, at Cougar Stadium on Friday night.

The victory capped off a perfect regular season for the Pirates, who claimed the District 3A-7 championship at 10-0 overall and 6-0 in District 3A-7.

“Not many people get to be perfect in their life, because nobody is perfect except Jesus. But this season forever and ever, in the yearbook a hundred years from now, they will say the 2013 Pirates were perfect in the regular season,” Locust Grove head coach Matt Hennesy said.

Locust Grove's defense forced six turnovers in the game, and the Pirates built up a 54-6 lead by halftime.

Leading the way for the Cougars (1-9, 1-5) was running back Dakota Matlock, who rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries.

Keys finished with 285 yards on offense.

While Keys' season is done, Locust Grove will continue on in the playoffs and will host Roland in the first round on Friday night.
