Sequoyah rolls to 41-6 win over Westville

TAHLEQUAH — WESTVILLE – Sequoyah used a 240-yard rushing performance from running back Justin Hooper and three touchdown catches from Caisen Green to lead the Indians to an easy 41-6 victory over the Westville Yellowjackets Friday night in District 3A-7 action at Akin-Langley Field.

Green got the Indians on the board on the opening drive with a 55-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Zach Parrish to give the Indians a 7-0 lead with 8:22 left in the first quarter.

Hooper would get on the board early in the second period with a 21-yard run to help the Indians to a 13-0 lead, with 10:22 remaining before halftime.

Sequoyah would find the end zone two more times before halftime, as Green caught his second touchdown of the night – this time from 69 yards out. Cody Hooper would cap off the 20-point second period with a 5-yard scamper with 3:27 left before halftime to give Sequoyah a 27-0 halftime advantage.

Nick Kingfisher put the Indians on top 34-0 with a 62-yard reception midway through the third period. Green would catch his third touchdown of the night from nine yards out with 4:52 left in the contest to put Sequoyah on top 41-0.

Westville ruined the Indians’ chance at a second straight shutout as quarterback Paxton McVey would throw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Skylar Williams with 1:31 remaining for the Yellowjackets’ lone touchdown.

Sequoyah, now 3-3 on the season and 2-1 in the district, go outside the district Thursday night as they host the Sperry Pirates at Thompson Field. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
