NSU in 4th at UAFS Lions Classic

— FORT SMITH, Ark. — The Northeastern State women’s golf team is tied for fourth place after Monday’s opening round of the UAFS Lions Classic. The tournament is being held on the par-70, 5,829-yard Hardscrabble Country Club.

Senior Whitney McAteer sits in fourth place individually after shooting a 6-over-par round of 78, while senior Kelsey Kirkpatrick is tied for fifth place with a seven-over 79.

NSU battled sub-40-degree temperatures and winds that ranged between 15-25 mph.

NSU freshman McCandren Lewis shot an 86 to tie in the 24th spot. Sophomore Alex Koch completed a 15-over par round of 87, and freshman Kayla Schroeder shot a 93.

The RiverHawks stand tied for fourth place with Angelo State following the first round of the two-round tournament. Both teams shot 330 (plus-50) on the first day.

Northeastern State will compete in the final round Tuesday.
