Kingfisher leads Sequoyah at state meet

ARDMORE — Sequoyah's Nick Kingfisher was the lone Indian to score at the Class 3A state track meet this weekend. Kingfisher finished second in the high jump (at 6 feet, 2 inches) to secure Sequoyah's eight team points.

For the Sequoyah girls, Kayla Davis failed to retain her title in the 400-meter run, finishing third behind Henryetta's Aundrea Hamric (59.69) and Millwood's Breonna Hall (59.74). Davis finished the race at 1:02.79.

Ali Andrews was Keys only scorer at the state meet. Andrews came in fourth place in the 3,200-meter run. In the same event, Beggs' Regan Ward won by 40 seconds.

For Hulbert at the Class 2A state track meet at Carl Albert, Travis Cook recorded the Riders' highest finish in fourth place in the shotput. Tery Cook was fifth in the discus for the Riders.
