Harding sends NSU women to 0-2 start

From Staff reports

— FORT SMITH, Ark. — Shana Holmes scored a game-high 13 points to lead Harding to a 58-48 victory over Northeastern State at the Stubblefield Center in Fort Smith, Ark., on Saturday afternoon.

The loss drops the NSU women to 0-2. It's the RiverHawks' first time losing two games to start a season since the 2008-2009 campaign.

Pacing NSU was Chelsey Beathard, who logged 11 points on two of six shooting from the field. She was a perfect six-for-six at the free-throw line.

The RiverHawks, despite a 20-of-27 effort at the foul line, were doomed by a poor shooting effort from the field. NSU converted only 12 field goals on 46 attempts.

Trailing 25-23 at halftime, NSU managed to knot the game at 25 at the 19:22 mark of the second half. But Harding (2-0) proceeded to go on a 20-6 run over the next 10 minutes.

Aiding in Harding's winning effort was Montana Lewis, who had 11 points and six rebounds. Deshelle Isaac-Boyce chipped in with 10 points for the Lady Bison, which shot 42 percent (21 of 50) from the field.

Up next for the RiverHawks is a road game at Southwestern Oklahoma State on Wednesday night.
