Klinck leaving East Central to join BA staff

Bobby Klinck is leaving his post as East Central’s head coach to become the defensive coordinator at Broken Arrow, a source told the Tahlequah Daily Press on Tuesday.

Klinck will join David Alexander’s coaching staff at Broken Arrow. Alexander was named the Tigers’ new head coach in late January after Steve Spavital retired at the conclusion of the 2013 season.

Klinck was the Cardinals’ head coach for two seasons, leading East Central to the Class 5A championship game in 2012. Klinck’s record at East Central was 13-12.

In 2013, Klinck and the Cardinals went 4-7 overall and 4-3 in District 5A-4. Despite the sub-.500 record, East Central made the playoffs and lost to McAlester in the first round.

The vacancy at East Central will be the third this offseason in District 5A-4. Coweta’s Bubba Burcham retired and was replaced by Jay Wilkinson, while Grove recently appointed Mike Loyd as the Ridgerunners’ new head coach.
