Alva upends No. 1 Adair for Class 3A girls championship

Associated Press

— OKLAHOMA CITY — Jaden Hobbs scored 32 points to help Alva defeat Adair 49-40 in the Class 3A girl's state final Saturday.

Hobbs made 9 of 19 field goals and 12 of 14 free throws. She also had eight rebounds and three steals for the Goldbugs (28-2). It was Alva's first state title since 2003 — the other came in 1924. The Goldbugs were the Class 2A runner-up last year.

Kylie Looney scored 15 points for Adair, but she made just 5 of 21 shots. Keni Jo Lippe scored 14 points, on 5-for-17 shooting, for the Lady Warriors (28-2). Adair, whose only previous loss was to Class 6A Norman North, made just 23 percent of its shots.

Adair led 20-18 at halftime and the score was tied at 29 heading into the fourth quarter.
