Tulsa blows by Tulane

Basketball briefs

TULSA — Shaquille Harrison scored 15 of his 23 points in the first half and finished with 6 assists as Tulsa picked up a win over Tulane 97-71 Thursday night.

Tulsa (6-9, 1-2 Conference USA) hit 22 of 33 (66.7 percent) field goals in the first half and took a 60-32 lead into the break.

Tulsa led Tulane (8-8, 0-1 USA) for the entire game and boosted their lead to 35 points in the second half, 95-60, on a James Woodard three-pointer with just under four minutes remaining. Tulsa shot 57 percent for the game and made 11 of 23 3-pointers. Tulsa also won the rebound contest 34-24.

Louis Dabney led Green Wave scorers with 17 points and Jonathan Stark added 14 points.

D'Andre Wright finished with 18 points and eight rebounds for Tulsa. Lew Evans finished with 14 points; Tim Peete had 12 and Woodard 11.

James, Durant ahead in NBA All-Star vote

LeBron James and Kevin Durant lead their conferences in the latest NBA All-Star voting.

Balloting for the Feb. 16 game in New Orleans ends Jan. 20. The starters will be announced Jan. 23, before the Lakers play the Heat.

James leads all players with 1.076 million votes, though he’s fewer than 22,000 ahead of Durant. Miami teammate Dwyane Wade is also on pace to join LeBron in the Eastern Conference lineup, along with Paul George of Indiana, Carmelo Anthony of New York and Kyrie Irving of Cleveland.

In the West, Kobe Bryant is second in the balloting, followed by Houston’s Dwight Howard, the Clippers’ Blake Griffin, Minnesota’s Kevin Love and Golden State’s Stephen Curry.
