BROKEN ARROW - Gerald Carter, a former periodic presenter at Tahlequah's Iguana Cafée open mic nights and current resident of Broken Arrow, has published a book of poems, "My Year of Living Poetically."

Two months before retiring from Blue Sky Behavioral Health in Muskogee, this seasoned professional counselor and member of a number of Oklahoma writers groups set himself the task of writing at least one poem a day for a year.

In this initial offering, Carter has selected 82 observations on topics as varied as the state of the nation, role-reversing with Charlie Manson, perspectives of a searcher on spirituality and recovery, the art of helping, conversations with his "muse" and Henrietta, a hen, he mad acquaintance with at Robbers State Park.
