COWETA – Friday night the Sequoyah Lady Indians traveled to Coweta to take on the Tigers .

The duo of Angel Goodrich and Shawna Singleterry combined for 43 points as the Lady Indians held off a Coweta rally to defeat the Lady Tigers 63-55.

Early it was a clinic by Goodrich, who opened the game with 10 of Sequoyah’s points as the Lady Indians led 20-15 at the end of the first quarter. Sequoyah stretched the lead to nine at the end of the second quarter as Singleterry went the length of the floor to beat the buzzer and give the Lady Indians a 34-25 lead at the intermission.

Lorin Hammer got involved as she gave Sequoyah their first double-digit lead of the contest with a jumper with 6:25 left in the third quarter for a 36-25 advantage. Coweta rallied back to within five at 58-53, but the Lady Indians got a key 3-pointer from the left baseline from Cassie Moore and clutch free-throw shooting from Goodrich and Singleterry in the final minutes to escape Coweta with a 63-55 win.

Goodrich led the way with 22 points, while Singleterry added 21. Moore was next with nine, Hammer had six, Tiffany Teehee added four and Sukey Deere scored one.
