Two Kansas men face drug possession charges in Cherokee County after their arrest Saturday by sheriff’s deputies.

Keith Allen Abernathy and Chancy Ellis, both 24, were booked into the jail after Abernathy was stopped for drunken driving. Ellis was arrested for public drunk. During an impound inventory, the deputies found a green, leafy substance believed to be marijuana, and added charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of a controlled drug without tax stamps affixed.

In an unrelated matter, Matthew Scrapper filed a report Tuesday, alleging he was accosted by four Hispanic men.

Cheryl Dale called sheriff’s deputies Monday to report a physical assault. She said she was choked and slapped.
