Tahlequah police jailed a local man early Saturday morning when he drove up on an unrelated traffic stop.

Officer Austin Yates was assisting on a traffic stop near Goingsnake and Oak streets when 23-year-old Marcus A. Medley drove up and stopped. After Medley sat in the road for several minutes, Yates approached to tell him he could drive around, but noticed Medley smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech. Medley allegedly said he had been to Ned’s and consumed several drinks.

Police said Medley also had a pipe containing burnt marijuana. He was booked into jail for driving under the influence, no insurance, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. Police said Medley had a .09 breath-alcohol content.
