Four suspects were questioned in connection with the vandalism of a wooden statue in Norris Park.

The Tahlequah Police Department obtained video surveillance of four individuals at the park the night of June 10. The statue, of Billy Colman from "Where the Red Fern Grows," had been pushed over and the head was broken off and split in two. TPD posted photos on its Facebook page and received tips. Officer Robbie Bacon was dispatched to 129 W. Willis Road to speak with an informant.

An underage female admitted to officers that she was the one who pushed over the statue after her brother and his friend taunted her and goaded her into it. An adult woman was with group, but the video showed she did not touch the statue.

When Officer Thomas Donnell interviewed the group, he said they showed "absolutely no remorse for what they had done." TDP has stepped up its after-hour patrolling of Norris Park.
