Ashley Dawn Anderson, a resident of Tahlequah and a Cherokee tribal member, graduated from the Class of 2019 at Harvard University.
Anderson was the Sequoyah High School Class of 2015 valedictorian. She graduated with a honors degree in history and literature from Harvard last week.
She collaborated in the creation of the Indigenous College Planning Guidebook for the College Board last summer in New York City. Recently, Anderson had the honor of being a guest panelist for the Indigenous Student Voices on College Planning at the Native American Student Advocacy Institute Summit in Tulsa.
Anderson plans on taking a year off before heading to law school, where she will focus on environmental and tribal law.
