During Tahlequah Rotary Club's October meeting, 2019 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards were presented to students from Tahlequah High School.

Every year, Rotary sends high school juniors to Camp Heart O’ the Hills in Welling for a three-day event that teaches leadership, social and team-building skills. In October, the Tahlequah Rotary Club sent seven students to RYLA – four from THS, two from Sequoyah High School, and one from Hulbert High School. Keys did not choose to participate this year. Three of this year’s Tahlequah RYLA students were guest speakers at Rotary.

Approximately 280 high school juniors from Rotary District 6110’s four-state area attended RYLA this year, including seven from Cherokee County. District 6110 encompasses Northeastern Oklahoma, southwestern Kansas, southeastern Missouri, and northeastern Arkansas.
