The Center for Disease Control has said the flu vaccination can reduce individual chances of contracting and spreading the flu, and recommends influenza vaccinations for anyone 6 months of age or older.
Northeastern Oklahoma Community Health Centers Inc. is now encouraging those who have not yet received flu shots to get their vaccination.
"We have started seeing back to back cases of the flu," said NeoHealth Clinic Manager and Licensed Practical Nurse Melissa Lamons.
The Center for Disease Control expects flu diagnoses to increase in the coming weeks.
Flu shots are available for $20 at all NeoHealth locations.
Area residents with questions about whether the flu shot is right for them should discuss the vaccination with their local health care providers.
