Horses interrupt Stilwell's Run for the Berries

Running for the berries

Runner Brandy Maxwell, front, stopped running for the berries and started running for her life to get out of the herd of horses that interrupted the participants of the Run for the Berries 5K Saturday in Stilwell. The herd apparently escaped from the Croley Farm just north of Carson Park and ran east to Second Street before eventually making it to Hickory Street, where they returned to Carson Park thanks to the corraling of the Stilwell Fire Department on four-wheelers. Kallup McCoy won the Run for the Berries in a time of 18:20. No official time was kept on the horses.
