Siera Christine O'Daniel, from Tahlequah, served as a page for State Rep. Matt Meredith during the first week of the new legislative session, Feb. 4-7.

Siera is the daughter of Adam and Jennifer O'Daniel, and is a senior at Fort Gibson High School. Serving as a page allowed her the opportunity to participate in the legislative process.

The Oklahoma House of Representatives sponsors the Page Program to allow students to spend a week observing their state government.

The role they play is an integral part of the legislative process. House members depend on pages to run errands, assist them on the Floor during session, and to be present during committee meetings.

"Paging for the Oklahoma House of Representatives is an excellent opportunity for our young people to see how state government functions. Siera did an outstanding job this week fulfilling her duties as a page. The pages work very long hours, but paging is also an opportunity to make new friends who share an interest in government," said Meredith. "Siera's service to the Oklahoma House of Representatives was very much appreciated. I look forward to following her future success."
