HULBERT – The Hulbert School Board accepted the resignation of junior high and high school principal Erik Puckett at a special meeting Thursday night.

Puckett, who served two years at that job, is taking a similar position at Morris, between Muskogee and Okmulgee.

The board also hired Monty Layton as a vocational agriculture instructor and approved an agreement with Layton for the use of his personal vehicle as a vo-ag truck.

For the second time, the board tabled any action on hiring Tom Cameron as a consultant to the Hulbert school administration.

The board did, however, approve a lease/purchase agreement with the Bank of Cherokee County for a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban. At the regular July meeting, board Chairman Kent Barnes and board member Rick Gassaway voted for the renewal of the agreement, while board members Matt Walls and Kathy Lenard voted against it. All four voted the same way Thursday night.

Board member Christy Landsaw was absent from the regular meeting, but her vote in favor of the agreement at Thursday night’s special meeting broke the tie.
