Prosecutors have filed formal charges against a man who allegedly slammed a door on a police officer last month.
Aaron Owl, 28, is charged with assault and battery on a police officer. Owl is free on a $10,000 bond, court records show. He pleaded not guilty Tuesday during his initial appearance.
Officers arrested Owl for domestic assault and battery by strangulation and assault and battery on a police officer, though prosecutors have not filed the domestic charge against Owl.
Police said they went to a home in the 100 block of East Ross last month and found an injured woman. When officers went to the door of the home, Owl allegedly slammed it on Officer Tyler Trammel’s right leg and began pushing the door shut.
Trammel and Officer Steve Smith later entered the home and had to fight with Owl before taking him into custody, according to an arrest affidavit filed by Trammel.
