An accident on Stick Ross Mountain Road south of Tahlequah injured a Tahlequah teen just after 9:30 p.m. Saturday night.

Natalie Sams, 13, was Life-lighted to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa with unknown trunk injuries, but was listed in stable condition.

Sams was a passenger in a 2008 Ford F-150 truck, driven by Miguel Rodriguez, 16, who was eastbound on the county road when he swerved to miss a deer.

The vehicle veered off the roadway to the right and collided with the embankment, then rolled before coming to rest on its wheels.

Rodriguez was not injured.

Passenger Jesus Eligio, 14, of Tahlequah was taken to Tahlequah City Hospital, where he was treated for head injuries and then released.

Another passenger, Tyler French, 14, was transported by Cherokee Nation EMS to Tahlequah City Hospital, where she was treated for arm injuries and released.

Seat belts were in use, but the air bags did not deploy.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Josh Lawson of the Adair/Cherokee County Detachment.

He was assisted by Trooper Randy Cox of the Muskogee County Detachment, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department and the Cherokee Nation EMS.
