NORMAN, Okla. — Democratic presidential hopeful Beto O'Rourke will be in Norman Monday as part of an Oklahoma leg in his nationwide campaign.
O'Rourke will hold a University of Oklahoma Rally with Beto at Volare Pizzeria Bar + Lounge at 315 White St. A Facebook event set up by his campaign shows the rally starting at 3:45 p.m.
The campaign is asking that attendees RSVP to the event.
O'Rourke will take part in Tulsa Beers with Beto at Welltown Brewing at 7 p.m. on Sunday. He will also reportedly visit the Greenwood district in Tulsa, the former site of Black Wall Street and the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, and the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum on his way down to Norman.
The Texas democrat rose to popularity in 2018 closely contesting, though unsuccessful, race for Senate against Sen. Ted Cruz. He is one of 23 Democrats currently running for president.
According to the latest polls aggregated by Real Clear Politics, O'Rourke is still polling in the single digits. A FOX News poll released Friday had him at two percent, compared to frontrunner and former vice president Joe Biden at 31 percent.
Another poll released by the Hill on Thursday showed O'Rourke with four percent, with Biden still in the lead followed by Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
