Editor, Daily Press:
I’m sitting here in my own home, located on a peaceful dead-end street, enjoying a quiet evening of reading. Well, I’m trying to enjoy a quite evening of reading, but that quietness has been interrupted literally every 10 to 15 minutes by the boom, boom, boom of someone’s personal car sound system literally causing my windows to vibrate.
Why is it that an existing ordinance against these noise producing systems can not be enforced? As I drive around town it is quite obvious which vehicles are the offenders. Therefore, I am quite sure that the police on patrol know which vehicles are in violation, but then apparently choose not to take action to enforce the ordinance. It seems there is no excuse.
I encourage all citizens, like myself, who are fed up and going a little crazy with the noise, to start inundating the police with calls reporting the license plate numbers of these offending vehicles and demand action to return the peace and quiet to our community. I thought several years ago that I was just being an old fogey, but this is getting to be way out of hand. Join me in saying, “I’m mad and I’m not going to take it any more!”
