Sharon G. Sanders

TAHLEQUAH – Sharon G. Sanders, 50, of Rose, Okla., passed away Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, at St John Medical Center in Tulsa, Okla., with her family at her bedside.

She was born in Santa Maria, Calif., to Ray and Velma (Baxter) Sutton and was raised and attended school in Bokoshe and Spiro, graduating from Spiro High School in 1977.

She married J.R. Sanders on June 22, 1982, in Pine Bluff, Ark., and they made their home there until moving to Rose in 1994 to operate a dairy farm.

She was an excellent helpmate to her husband. When it came to working on the farm, she was always willing to do whatever needed done, in addition to serving as a wife and mother, seeing to the needs of her family.

She loved getting together with family for a good meal and sharing some special times and making memories.

Sharon always put others before herself, seeing that their needs and desires were fulfilled.

She enjoyed fishing and being outdoors, taking in all the beautiful wonders that God created.

She found spending time in the hay meadow brought her a special peace and renewed her faith and gave her a joy that was beyond measure. She was a devoted Christian and was a member of Faith Chapel Church, where she was very involved in a variety of capacities through the years. She served in the teen’s, children’s and women’s ministries.

She was the director of the Easter and Christmas plays and was the catalyst for the Vacation Bible School program.

One of her favorite events was attending state rallies with the kids in the church. She loved the Lord and served him with all her heart in any way she could be of help. She was a truly unique person that will be missed by all that shared in her life.

She was preceded in death by her father; two brothers, Bobby Sutton and Dean Sutton. A very special sister, Sandy Sutton, went on to glory before her and now they have reunited in heaven to enjoy in each other’s fellowship once more.

She is survived by her mother, Velma Sutton of Spiro. Her loving husband, J.R. Sanders, of 27 years, is left to carry on and cherish her memory for a lifetime. Also surviving are three sons: Aaron Sanders and wife Kim of Midland, Ark., Justin Sanders and wife Skyla of Rose, Okla., and Joshua Sanders of Rose. She leaves two daughters who will remember her fondly and they are Kathrine Fowler and husband Charlie of Barling, Ark., and Ariel Sanders of the home. She leaves to mourn her passing nine brothers and they are as follows: Harold Sutton of Tulsa, Okla., Jerry Don Sutton of Coweta, Okla., George Sutton and wife Janie of Coweta, Randy Sutton of Spiro, Okla., Carroll Sutton of Tulsa, Oklahoma, James Sutton of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Darrell Sutton of Tulsa, Robin Sutton of Tulsa, and Michael Sutton of Spiro, Okla. Her legacy will live on in her six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A visitation for Mrs. Sanders was held at Reed-Culver Funeral Home on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, from noon until 8 p.m. Services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Faith Chapel Church in Tahlequah, Okla. Burial was in the Old Bokoshe Cemetery in Bokoshe, Okla.

The Rev. Bobby Long and Brother Brian Drywater officiated the funeral service. Pallbearers were Justin Sanders, Marion Bolding, Joshua Sanders, Doyle Tinnin, Tommy Speake and Kenny Adams. Services were under the direction of Reed-Culver Funeral Home of Tahlequah, Okla.
