HULBERT – Reba Fore scored 12 points in the 43-39 win over the Okay Lady Mustangs to win the District Seven Championship. The game was close throughout as the Lady Riders had to hold on in the fourth period to secure the win. Okay outscored Hulbert 12-7. The Lady Riders made all their points on free throws as Sydney Dunning went 4-6 and Jessica Henson was 3-8 from the line. The Lady Riders had built a 36-27 lead at the end of the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Mustangs 12-9. Fore led the scoring in the quarter with eight of the points while Kim Masters and Charlie Walker added two each for Hulbert.

Hulbert outscored Okay 10-8 as Ashley Jones made four points in the first quarter. Fore and LaRaye Arnall added four points with a field goal each. The remaining points in the quarter came from Henson’s two points at the charity stripe. Hulbert outscored Okay 14-10 in the second period for a 24-18 lead at the half. Arnall made a 3-pointer and Henson scored three points with a field goal and a point at the line. Sydney Dunning, Henson, and Jones each scored a field goal. Walker had the other two points in the quarter as she was a perfect 2-2 from the line.

Nicole Burns of Okay was the leading scorer of the game with 13 points. She scored in every quarter with a field goal in the first, a field goal and a point at the line in the second, a 3-pointer and a field goal in the third and a 3-pointer in the fourth period. Ashley Durant was the only other Lady Mustang in double figures with 12 points. Durant scored four points in the first period with two field goals, two more in the second with a field goal. Durant finished her scoring in the fourth quarter with six points on three field goals.

The win advances the Lady Riders to the first round winner’s bracket of the Regionals at Liberty, Thursday. The Hulbert Lady Riders are now 16-7 for the season. Tipoff is 6:30 p.m.

RIDERS WIN DISTRICT TITLE OVER MUSTANGS

HULBERT – Jacob Reynolds scored a game-high 20 points in the 64-60 win over the Okay Mustangs to take the District Seven Championship. Reynolds scored in every quarter, starting out with nine points in the first period, with three field goals and a 3-pointer. Reynolds added another field goal in the second, then added five more points in the third with a 3-pointer and a field goal. Reynolds finished his scoring with four points in the fourth as he had two field goals.

The Riders took a 23-14 lead at the end of the first period along with Reynolds nine points, Justin Farmer scored six points in the quarter with two 3-pointers. Chase Johnson added three points with a field goal and a point at the line while Devin Landsaw scored his only two point with a field goal. Brian Powers made three points with a field goal and a point from the free throw line. The Riders outscored the Mustangs 15-14 in the second period to take a 38-28 lead at half time. Kendall Kilpatrick led with six points with two field goals and was a perfect 2-2 from the free-throw line. Powers added four more points with two field goals while Johnson had a 3-pointer in the second period.

Okay outscored Hulbert in the third period Besides Reynolds five points, Kilpatrick added four with two field goals and Powers scored one field goal. The Mustangs rallied in the fourth quarter by outscoring the Riders 20-15. However, the comeback fell short as Johnson scored seven points with two field goals and was 3-6 from the line. Farmer made four points, all from the charity stripe. Reynolds had the other four point in the fourth period.

Okay had two players in double figures. Chris Young was the leading scorer for the Mustangs with 15 points. Brandon Horton was the other Mustang in double figures with 11 points.

The win gave the Riders the District title and upped their record to 14-9 for the season. The win advances the Riders into the first round of the winner's bracket of the Regionals at Liberty, Thursday. Tipoff is 8 p.m.
