The seventh-and-eighth-grade Lady Tigers basketball teams recently won their conference tournaments.

The seventh-grade team finished the regular season with a record of 11-1, then rolled past three straight opponents in the tournament to capture the championship and finish 14-1 overall.

In the first game of the tournament, the seventh graders defeated Catoosa 40-29. Marisa Girdner led the Lady Tigers with 17 points. Other scorers were Kalie Champlain with eight, Tiffany Roberts with four, Autum McDonald and Chandra Sharp with three, and Gillian Tinnin with two.

The Lady Tigers then took on Coweta where they won again, this time 32-23. Girdner was the team’s leading scorer with 13 points. Tiffany Roberts added seven.

Other scorers were Sharp and Tinnin with four, and Jayden Littlechief and McDonald with two.

The seventh-grade Lady Tigers then wrapped up their championship run with a 33-24 win against Marquette. Girdner was the team’s leading scorer with 20 points.

Other scorers were Champlain with five, Roberts with four, and McDonald and Tinnin with two.

The eighth-grade team completed the regular season at 3-9, but got hot at the end to capture the conference championship as well.

First, the Lady Tigers took out Claremore 25-18 behind eight points from Hunter Elam and seven from Alissa Hadley.

Other scorers in the game were Casey Beaston with four, and Star Anguiano, Morgan Anderson and Karson Heist with two.

In the semi-final round, Tahlequah squeaked past Marquette 37-33. Elam and Hadley each scored 10 points to lead the Lady Tigers.

Other scorers were Anderson with seven, Beaston and Heist with four, and Anguiliano with two.

The eighth-grade team then finished its championship run with a 39-36 win against Skiatook. Hadley led the team this time with 14 points. Beaston was also in double figures with 10.

Other scorers were Anguiano and Elam with five, Anderson with three, and Heist with two.

The eighth-grade team finished the season 6-9 overall.
