NSU field goal kicker Jared Homer, left, kicks out of the hold of Matt Ishmael during an earlier football game. Homer was named the Lone Star Conference North’s Special Teams Playor of the Week.

RICHARDSON, Texas — Northeastern State’s Jared Homer connected on field goals of 41, 56 and 51 yards on Saturday.

That effort was good enough for him to benamed the Lone Star Conference North Division Special Teams Player of the Week.

Homer’s two first half field goals gave the RiverHawks a 6-0 halftime lead. He also broke his own school record of 55 yards in the second quarter after hitting from 56 yards away.

In the fourth quarter, Homer drilled a 51-yard field goal into a stiff 25 mph win that pulled NSU to within a point at 17-16.

NSU fell to 0-7 and 0-3 in the loss and will look to claim its first victory of the year this weekend against Southwest Baptist University. Kick off is set for 2 p.m. at Doc Wadley Stadium.
