Northeastern State head softball coach Clay Davis announced the signing of five student-athletes who will compete for the RiverHawks in the spring of 2023.

"This class of five has a common theme: versatility, athleticism, and power," said Davis. "We knew we needed all those boxes filled, these five young women checked each one. We are very proud to welcome all five to our RiverHawks family."

The NSU signing class has three from Oklahoma, with one from Arkansas and one from Texas. Before signing day on Wednesday, Davis' RiverHawks added Oklahoma State pitching transfer Savanna Davis who will immediately play for NSU in the spring of 2022.

Alexa Almejo

Infield • Denton, Texas • Denton Ryan HS

Named First Team Academic All-District … First Team All-District team in North Texas … career RBI leader … coach at Denton Ryan by Matthew Buettner … plays club ball for Ryan Suderth on Epic DFW National team … daughter of Jana and Brian Almejo.

"Alexa is a very versatile player; the fact she can play multiple positions and hits for power from the left side are things that we desperately needed moving forward. We can see Alexa playing shortstop or a corner outfield spot, but the fact she has instant power from the left side definitely gives her a great opportunity to play right away."

Raegan Moore

Catcher/Outfield • Blackwell, Okla. • Blackwell HS

Highly decorated player … named All-District four times, big stick award winner twice, golden glove award winner twice … capped off her career being named First Team All-Region ... selected to the Oklahoma All-State team … played at Blackwell HS for Kelsey Jackson … played club with Epic 18U National for Scotty Smith … member of the National Honor Society and the Principals Honor Roll … daughter of Melissa and Roger Moore.

"Raegan is a pure athlete; she can play multiple positions, including catcher. Raegan is unique because she is a left-handed catcher, yet she handles a game as well as anyone we have seen. She runs well, which gives her the capability to play the outfield in games she doesn't catch. On top of the fact, she also gives us another power gap to gap hitter from the left side, which we needed badly. We can't wait to watch Raegan continue to develop into a big-time player for us."

Morgan Parsons

Pitcher/Utility • Dardanelle, Ark. • Dardanelle HS

Multiple All-Conference award winner … received multiple Offensive Player of the Year awards and was named to the All-State team in 2021 … played for Dustin Corley at Dardanelle HS … plays travel ball for the Arkansas Bombers Qualls where she is coached by Reagan Caram … member of Beta and the Honor Roll … daughter of Kacey and Davey Parsons.

"Morgan is a very talented pitcher that can also bring power to our offense. Morgan is that rare player that can help us offensively and in the circle. With us losing a couple of pitchers this year due to graduation, we needed to bring in a quality pitcher that can jump into our rotation immediately and continue the tradition of solid pitchers in our program."

Baylea Smith

Infield • Noble, Okla. • Noble HS

Three-time All-District player … Three-time Team MVP … Offensive Player of the Year … finished her senior season being named First Team All-Region and selected as a starter in the Oklahoma All-State game … plays for Harold Murphy at Noble High School … plays for Epic 18u National and coach Scotty Smith … daughter of Angela and Tony Smith.

"Baylea truly can be the next in line for dynamic corner power hitters at NSU. She has so many qualities and similarities to our former All-American Haley Acrey. Same body type, same power, and same defensive mindset. Watching her strive to the same accolades as Haley is definitely going to be fun to watch."

Danni Sottile

Utility • Elk City, Okla. • Elk City HS

Three-time All-Defensive player of the year … named First Team All-District, First Team All-region … named to the Oklahoma All-State team … played for Kaleb Murray at Elk City HS … plays for Epic 18u National and Coach Scotty Smith in the summer … member of the 2021 Academic State Champions Softball team … Drum Major for the Elk City Band for the last three years … daughter of Cassy and Dillon Sottile.

"Danni is such a versatile athlete and is as athletic as anyone in this class. She can play any position on the field is what instantly drew us to her. In fact, she actually pitches for her HS team. We see Danni coming in immediately and competing in the middle of our infield and the outfield. Her athleticism is going to give her a chance to make an impact sooner than later."
