HOT SPRINGS, Ark. -- Northeastern State's postseason run came to an end on Friday where they finished in 17th place the NCAA Midwest/Central Super Regional at the Hot Springs Country Club.
Carlos Gomez paced the RiverHawks in their final round with a 1-under 71 and completed his freshman season tied for 12th on the leaderboard with a 219 (73-75-71).
The RiverHawks stumbled out of the gates in the first of two rounds on Friday and dropped from ninth to last at one point. NSU would card a 311 in the morning round, the second highest score of the field to knock them well out of contention. In the afternoon, they rallied back with a 299 to finish with a three-round total at 910.
Griffen Matthias held NSU's second-lowest score in the final round with a 1-over 73. The NSU senior fired off a four-under on the front nine to close out his career. Matthias would card a 232 (79-80-73) and place tied for 77th.
Casey Paul carded a pair of 78s on Friday and left as the team's second highest finisher with a 227 and placing tied for 50th.
Jax Johnson shot a 236 (77-81-78), and Tyler Ashman scored a 239 (84-78-77) to make up the rest of the NSU group.
Lindenwood took the regional crown by two strokes with an 870. The Lion's also claimed the medalist champion with Yente Van Doren winning with a 213 score.
