HULBERT – The Hulbert Riders are 4-3 in Big Eight Conference play and 8-4 at the midway point of the season.

Coach Rhett Bynum said, “This is about where I thought we would be at this stage of the season. We have been a little inconsistent this year, but I think as the year progresses we will get better. Our four losses have been against tough teams, two to Boynton and one to Keys in conference play. Our other loss was to a very good Spiro team in the Shrine Tournament.”

The Riders’ leading scorers this year have been Jacob Reynolds with 156 points. He had a high game of 25 in the conference game with Keys. Reynolds scored 16 points in the Vian game, followed by 15 points in each of the Braggs, Cave Springs and Boynton games.

Reynolds scored 13 points against Central and 12 points each in the two games against Okay.

Kendall Kilpatrick is second in scoring for the Riders with 145 points so far this season. His high game came against Braggs with 20 points. Kilpatrick scored 19 points each against Okay and Vian . Kilpatrick scored 16 points twice, once against Spiro and again against Boynton. He had three 11 point games against Keys, Gore and Quinton.

Chase Johnson has reached double figures three times this season with 19 points twice against Quinton and Okay in the tournamnet. His other double figure game was also against Okay in the conference game. Johnson scored a total of 104 points this season.

Jake Whitener has three double-figure games for the Riders with his high game being against Boynton where he scored 16 points. He scored 11 points against Braggs and 10 points against Vian. Whitener has a total of 56 points for the season.

“I think we came out a little flat in the tournament and didn’t really play well at times. I think the break affected us because we were playing well before the break,” said Bynum. “We just didn’t always put together four good quarters. We really need to do that consistently. Since we will not have a game on Friday of this week we will get in some good practice time and get some things done that we need to do.”

The Riders will begin the second half of the season at the Porum Tournament, Tuesday against Panola. Tip-off will be at 5:50 p.m.
