Six swimmers from the Tahlequah Swim Club, a branch of USA Swimming, will be going to state swim meet.

Kristen Berry, Abigail Hanson, Caroline Thompson Black, Timothy Bradshaw, Kherissa Taylor and Emma Hunsaker are all going to compete at the Oklahoma State Age Group Championships on Friday through Sunday.

Berry is the most impressive to Tahlequah USA Swimming coach Bob Bradshaw.

Berry will compete in 9-and-10-year-old age group in seven events.

“Kristen is outstanding,” Bradshaw said. “In the Bentonville meet (two weeks ago), she got second and third in everything she swam, which was eight events.”

Hunsaker qualified in four events, Hanson one event, Black two events, Bradshaw four events and Taylor four events.

In the Division II Qualifying championships, a team of four swimmers won nine medals, seven of which were earned by Berry and Bradshaw.

Last year, Taylor was eighth in the state in her age group after swimming three events.

“The kids are just unbelievable,” Bradshaw said. Emma has only recently just come alive.”
