The Foyil Panthers defeated the Hulbert Riders 53-22 Friday night as Brett Teague scored two of the three Rider touchdowns.

Teague's first touchdown came in the third quarter at 0:01 on a five yard run. Teague also ran for the two point conversion, narrowing the Panther lead to 40-16. He got his second touchdown of the game at the 7:20 mark of the fourth quarter as Daniel Mauldin found him in the end zone for 39 yards for the touchdown. The run failed and the score remained 47-22 in favor of Foyil.

Sam York scored the first Hulbert touchdown in the first quarter at the 8:07 mark on a 20 yard fumble recovery for the score. Teague threw to Mauldin for the two point conversion to tie the score at eight.

Teague was the leading rusher for the Riders with 16 carries for 44 yards with one rushing touchdown. Teague had two catches for 54 yards and one touchdown receiving. Mauldin was 6-17 rushing yards and was 1-3 receiving yards. Kenny Vance also had two catches for 13 yards. Mauldin was 6-13-81-4 with one touchdown pass. Vance was the leader for Riders with 10 tackles, followed by Teague with seven. Doug Yates had five tackles for the Riders.

The Panthers scored 20 points in the first quarter as Kris Mount had a 47-yard run at the 9:42 mark. Mount ran for the two point conversion, giving Foyil an 8-0 lead. After Hulbert had tied the score Foyil scored at the 5:13 mark of the quarter as Taylor Antle found Joey Lester in the end zone for five yards. The run failed and the score remained 14-8 in favor of the Panthers. Foyil got their final touchdown of the quarter as Mount had an 88 yard punt return at the 3:05 mark making the score 20-8.

Foyil scored the only touchdown of the second quarter as Justin Tucker ran an interception back at the 3:53 mark. Justin Tucker's kick was good and made the score 27-8 in the Panther's favor. Foyil added two more touchdowns in the third quarter as Antle had an 18 yard run and Justin Tucker added the PAT to make the score 34-8 at the 9:37 mark. Antle then found Mount in the end zone for five yards for the final touchdown of the third quarter at the 2:14 mark to make the score 40-8.

The Panthers added their final two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, as Dustin Tucker ran 26 yards for the score at the 8:39 mark. Justin Tucker added the PAT to give Foyil a 47-16 lead. Foyil scored their final touchdown as Mount scored on a 32 yard interception return at the 0:23 mark. The two-point conversion run failed for the final score of 53-22.

"We got a lot better offensively this game,” said Hulbert Head Coach Mark Vance. “I feel we improved leaps and bounds over last week. Teague had an outstanding game and Mauldin also had a good game for us. We must do a lot more work on tackling. It must get better as the season progresses. Our special teams played really well tonight. The other thing we need to work on is giving Mauldin more protection."

Foyil now leads the series with Hulbert 1-0. The Riders are now 0-2 in District play and 0-3 overall. Foyil, with the win, goes to 2-0 in District and 3-0 overall. The Riders will have their Homecoming game, Friday, against Barnsdall. Hulbert leads the series with Barnsdall 1-0 as they won the only game played against played between the two teams was a 28-24 win by Hulbert in the first round of the 1993 State Playoff.
