The United Keetoowah Band council hired Ken Belmard as attorney general at its regular monthly meeting Saturday. Belmard has previously served in that position, but was replaced in 2003 by Dianne Barker-Harrold. Harrold now works as a UKB attorney, but not as attorney general, a post that has been vacant for most of 2004.

The council also approved Brian Shade as a member of the UKB council budget and finance committee. Rodney Fourkiller, Assistant Chief Charles Locust, and Canadian District Rep. Eddie Sacks were all approved as members of the tribe’s economic development authority board.

Fax machines for all nine of the UKB districts were approved, as was a name change for the building where the council meetings are held. It’s now the UKB Community Services Building, instead of the Federal Programs Building.
